In keeping with Out of Step
Books' goal of giving back to our beloved art community, our company is
committed to keeping creativity alive and thriving in schools. Because cuts in
school budgets have repeatedly hit arts education departments, our goal from
the beginning was to be able to donate proceeds from book sales to art
classrooms in need. With each round of books that is sold on the Out of Step
Books website, funds are allotted towards the Donors Choose charity,
a great organization that helps pair donors with teachers and classrooms in
need. With the release of the Eight Arms of Inspiration book, Out of Step Books is thrilled
to be able to be making this dream a reality and will continue to make this a priority with the Antennae of Inspiration book and all future publications.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE for Feathers of Inspiration is January 13, 2014
We are looking for bird artwork of all mediums:
- graffiti art
- digital art
- mixed media, etc.
*Please send 300 dpi high-resolution images. We need images that are sufficient width and quality to be considered “archival.” Images generated at low-resolution for display purposes are not acceptable. Uncompressed high-resolution TIFF, JPG, PDF or EPS files are required for all images.
The image specifications are really important! The better your image, the more likely it is to be used (and be large enough to be seen well, if chosen for the book). So PLEASE take these guidelines seriously!
Images can be submitted via email to:
(Or to send a disc through snail mail, please message me directly).
Be sure to include the following information with your submission:
· Name of the artist (stated exactly as you wish to be credited - no websites, please)
· Location of your shop/studio/company
· Medium of artwork (ie: painting, digital painting, mixed media, drawing, tattoo, etc.)
· Name of the artwork (if it is titled)
**Please sign the release form promptly. After your artwork is submitted, you will be sent a link to HelloSign.com to sign the release form digitally. Your work cannot be used in the book if we do not have a signed release form on file for you. If you prefer to snail mail a written release form, please contact me directly.
Please note that NOT all images submitted will be used. We will be “collecting and selecting,” so submitting does NOT guarantee a spot in the book - but the only way to be considered is to send us what you’ve got. Present as many photos as you'd like. Each artist selected will be given credit in the book for their artwork.
ALSO PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING, in regards to book purchases once the project is printed & published: Due to the volume of submissions and artists in the project (and in order to keep with our poignant goal of donating proceeds to charity), please note that we CANNOT provide participating artists with free copies of the book. Artists selected for the book will be offered a discount to purchase the book, but unfortunately, we cannot offer any complimentary copies.
Remember that there are many important factors that go into the book selection process, including: outstanding artwork, following the submission guidelines, sending clear/high-res photos, sending required information in a timely fashion, prompt signing of the release form, etc. During the submission phase of the Antennae of Inspiration book, we received close to 2,600 images and even though the book was a BIG BOY at 480 pages, cuts and selections obviously had to be made.
Thanks so much for your interest and for visiting Out of Step Books. We really appreciate your support!
